José Guilherme receives award from the UN agency for the postal sector

José Fernando Guilherme was distinguished with the 2023 “Chairman’s Award”, awarded by UPU, the UN agency for the postal sector, which includes almost all of the approximately 200 postal operators worldwide.
During the meeting of the “Postal Security Group” on February 7 in Bern, José Guilherme received the award from the hands of UPU/PSG Chairman Mr. Gary Barksdale and Dawn Wilkes, UPU project manager.

At the invitation of the UPU and then still as a CTT staff, José Guilherme coordinated a group of experts whose task was to develop the Road Safety Plan, within the scope of the UN agency.

In this work, the UPU’s Road Safety Policy was prepared, several awareness-raising actions were carried out, as well as the preparation of a course and the training of colleagues with the aim of implementing Road Safety Programs in postal operators in Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde and S. Tomé e Principe.

The UPU justifies the attribution of this award with the “efforts of José Guilherme to sponsor continuous training and guidance on road safety, for his contribution to the advancement of safety at regional and international level and also for the level of excellence achieved as a result of projects focused on road safety”.
